Ojaswa Yadav
Ojaswa Yadav
New York, NY

ML Engineer at CVS Health building production LLM systems and agentic pipelines. Columbia M.S. (AI & ML). Previously AI Engineer at Palindrome Technologies (AI security research) and Research Assistant at Columbia's IRT Lab.

▸ What I build: multi-agent LLM systems, Text-to-SQL pipelines, CUDA inference engines, production forecasting infrastructure.
▸ Research roots: computer vision & medical imaging — my most-cited work (Eff2Net) classifies skin diseases at 84.70% accuracy with only 16M parameters using EfficientNetV2 + channel attention.
▸ Currently researching: latent world models — building HALO, a hierarchical video pretraining framework that learns discrete action structure from raw unlabeled video. Paper forthcoming.
▸ Published work: 7 peer-reviewed papers · 204 citations · computer vision, RL, signal processing.

  • Replaced a manual Excel-and-Slack reporting workflow for 5+ underwriting teams — shipped the production analytics app that became their primary interface, end to end.
  • Embedded Claude Opus to surface narrative summaries of what changed and why each cycle, cutting the analyst round-trips teams relied on to interpret their numbers.
  • Benchmarked Text-to-SQL agentic frameworks (Google ADK, AgentBricks) against complex healthcare P&L schemas — evaluating hallucination rates and edge-case robustness to establish whether agentic querying was production-ready.
  • Cut end-to-end runtime 26% and cloud compute up to 15% in the Financial Impact Testing forecasting pipeline by mapping inter-module dependencies and building selective re-execution logic.

  • Sole owner of architecture through deployment of a 10-agent system automating authorized web-app penetration testing across the OWASP Top 10. Authored the SBIR white paper defining the technical approach.
  • Discovery agent fingerprints targets first — enumerating endpoints, detecting tech stack — so downstream agents generate payloads matched to the actual application rather than firing generic exploits.
  • When known exploits don't land, a retry-and-escalation loop escalates via MCP to live web search, pulling newly disclosed vulnerabilities into the live assessment.
  • Fine-tuned an open-source LLM on 50K+ domain-specific samples, improving payload accuracy 15% over the base model; deployed with quantization and structured pruning for sub-200ms inference.

  • Formulated multi-detector email classification as an episodic MDP and trained a DQN to route across five detectors spanning a 50,000× inference-time range — 99.54% accuracy invoking the LLM only on 6% of emails; cut per-email latency from 3.29s → 208ms.
  • Designed a log-normalized cost reward stable at extreme cost ratios and a Lagrangian dual mechanism enforcing a 1.5% FPR constraint, replacing sliding-window approaches that violate MDP reward stationarity.
  • Built the Graph-RAG multi-agent detector: heterogeneous email graph (5 node types, 7 edge types), dual-mode RAG retrieval, and three parallel role-specialized agents with a verdict-deferring orchestrator. Ablations across three datasets; isotonic calibration; honeypot filtering.

HALO — Hierarchical Action Latent Observer
Oct 2026 – Present

Research framework for learning latent world models from unlabeled video — no rewards, no action labels, no pixel reconstruction. A frozen V-JEPA ViT-B/16 encoder extracts visual features; an Action Inferrer with a VQ codebook (512 discrete codes) discovers latent action structure purely from consecutive frames. Dual-level predictors handle frame-to-frame and segment-to-segment dynamics. ~50M trainable parameters. Trained on Something-Something-v2, generalization eval on Ego4D, robot manipulation eval on RoboMimic and BridgeData V2.

⚡
RankSentry
Jun 2026 – Sep 2026

Silent-failure detection for distributed GPU training. NCCL only reports "rank unknown" when a job hangs — RankSentry instruments every rank via an LD_PRELOAD C shim, streaming collective timings, heartbeats, and GPU telemetry over gRPC to name the failing rank before the watchdog fires — with cause, evidence, and recovery path. Validated on Lambda Labs with injected faults.

🔥
ForgeRT
2025 – Present

CUDA-native LLM inference engine in C++/CUDA — no PyTorch on the hot path. Hand-written kernels for RMSNorm (fused residual+norm via warp-shuffle), RoPE (fused Q+K with precomputed tables), and flash-decode attention (warp-cooperative, online softmax, 0 bytes stack frame). Achieves 323 tok/s decode on an A40 at ~46% peak memory bandwidth. Loads models directly from safetensors; greedy decoding from cuBLAS GEMMs + custom elementwise + two-phase parallel argmax. Validated on Qwen2-0.5B, 14/14 kernel correctness tests passing. INT4/INT8 quantization and custom GEMM in progress.

💰
GenAI Financial Agent v2
Dec 2024

Conversational AI for financial Q&A combining QLoRA fine-tuning of Qwen 2.5 (4-bit, consumer-GPU-friendly) on the Wealth Alpaca Dataset with three RAG strategies: naive, agentic, and fine-tuned. Vector store via ChromaDB + MiniLM embeddings. Benchmarked with RAGAS-style metrics — 84% answer relevance, 80% faithfulness.

📧
Cost-Aware Email Routing (MDP + DQN)
Aug 2024 – Mar 2025

Episodic MDP formulation for routing emails across five detectors spanning a 50,000× inference-time range. DQN achieves 99.54% accuracy while invoking the expensive LLM detector on only 6% of emails — cutting per-email latency from 3.29s to 208ms. Lagrangian dual mechanism enforces a 1.5% FPR hard constraint. Two-phase curriculum with exploration re-injection at phase transition.

🧠
Graph-RAG Multi-Agent Detector
2024 – 2025

Heterogeneous email graph with 5 node types, 7 edge types, dual-mode RAG retrieval, and three parallel role-specialized agents with a verdict-deferring orchestrator. Ablations across three datasets isolate per-agent contribution. Isotonic calibration on all outputs; honeypot filtering and train/test entity-overlap analysis.

🔬
Eff2Net — Skin Disease Classification
2022 · Elsevier BSPC

CNN for classifying four skin diseases (acne, actinic keratosis, melanoma, psoriasis) built on EfficientNetV2 + Efficient Channel Attention (ECA). Achieves 84.70% accuracy with only 16M parameters — fewer than most prior deep learning approaches in the literature. Published in Biomedical Signal Processing and Control (Elsevier). Most-cited work in my portfolio.
